Challenge:
The Sun City Vacation Club, comprising 148 self-catering units, faced high costs from in-roof geyser failures and needed a more efficient, sustainable hot water solution. The goal was to reduce energy consumption, lower maintenance costs, and minimise the resort’s carbon footprint while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
Solution:
Solahart replaced the existing 250-litre electric hot water systems with 148 Solahart 302J solar water heating systems, each fitted with Colorbond skins to match the roof colours.
System Details:
- Hot Water Requirement: 44,000 litres/day at 55°C
- Solar Collectors: 296 x Solahart J Collectors (592 m² total)
- Storage: 148 x Solahart 300L J Tanks (44,000 litres total)
- Boosting: Electric
